For nearly three decades, the Jesuit school has been a fixture in the community providing free education.
But all that is scheduled to end if the parents can not come up with the much needed funding by today to keep the school open.
Students left school today, unsure if this would be one of their last dismissals from St. Ignasius.
"St. Ignasius is so important to my life," said student Adriana Urena.
The school's 80 students are chosen, not by test scores but by a willingness to do hard work.
Hunts Point is one of the most high poverty neighborhoods in the entire nation by design, the education provided here is basically free.
"We're figuring it's about between 12-5 and $15,000 a year," said Michael Yazurlo.
Donations that support the school have dried up, over the past few years, along with support for many other charities. Students and their families have done their best to raise funds.
But at least $2 million was needed by today, to keep the doors of St. Ignasius open.
