They grow up so fast!

June 19, 2013

Talking about my son. I'm both so excited and so nervous. I mean c'mon, what could possibly go wrong?

Their parents have done I think a pretty good job advising the boys about the potential dangers, while appreciating the wonderful experiences they will have on their teenage journey to Europe. And so, with expanded cell service in place, I help prepare tonight's 11 p.m. newscast, with my son and his best friends in my thoughts and my heart.

Being a parent is heart-pounding, for so many reasons.

As for tonight's newscast, the daughter of one of baseball's most famous players and managers tonight's a hero. Christina Torre, daughter of Yankees legend and Brooklyn native Joe Torre, showing off her dad's catching skills today when she literally caught a one-year-old boy falling off the awning of a building in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The parents are now under arrest for letting the toddler get through an open window and onto the awning. Wow.

Also at 11, another failing grade for a New York City teacher. A teacher in the Bronx was arrested today, charged with raping a 10-year-old girl in his car – after telling her he was taking her to get an award.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather forecast, and Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
