Sentencing day on Long Island for man behind coast-to-coast drug ring

RIVERHEAD

William Wright, 36, was convicted of shipping hundreds of kilos of cocaine to Suffolk County.

Investigators say he got the drugs to Long Island by hiding them inside secret compartments of luxury vehicles being carried cross-country.

Wright then sold the drugs in Suffolk County for five times the amount he paid for them.

He pleaded guilty to money laundering in the second degree, conspiracy in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree and other charges.

Wright also pleaded guilty to transporting cash from the sale of cocaine in Suffolk back to California, specifically $1.1 million dollars hidden inside a convertible black Mercedes.

He will be sentenced in Riverhead Court.
