Queens teacher gets 35 years in sex abuse case

NEW YORK

Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael D. Aloise announced the prison term for Simon Watts on Wednesday.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said the 42-year-old third- and fourth-grade teacher was convicted in June of multiple sexual abuse, forcible touching and other charges.

A lawyer for Watts didn't immediately return a call for comment.

Brown said all the incidents took place at the Queens school - and some even during class time. He said the victims were four girls and a boy, all between eight and 10 years old.

Brown said the abuse occurred between September 2007 and March 2010.
