2 arrested, 2 sought in Edgewater robbery, beating

EDGEWATER, N.J.

It happened inside the St. Moritz apartment building in Edgewater on Tuesday.

Ramona Mercado-Vasquez, 26, and Adonis Sepulveda, 30, are accused of breaking into an apartment with two other suspects, pulling a man out of his bed, assaulting him at gunpoint, and tying him up and ransacking his apartment.

The four were allegedly in the apartment for some three hours.

The suspects made off with approximately $2 million in cash, gold, and jewelry.

During the armed robbery, an employee of the St. Moritz was also assaulted.

The homeowner sustained cuts to his face and body, as well as broken ribs.

Mercado-Vasquez and Sepulveda were charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, theft, burglary, possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Their bail was set at $1 million with no 10% cash option.
