Water line floods three Midtown building basements

NEW YORK

The pipe that brings water into 1008 6th Avenue broke at around 3 p.m. Wednesday. The building is located near West 38th Street.

Water from the pipe flooded three basements; 1000, 1006 and 1008 6th Avenue.

DEP shut down the 20 inch water main connected to the service line.

FDNY crews pumped out the water from the basements.

The water service line was repaired later Wednesday evening and water service was returned to the affected buildings.

DEP said no customers were affected.
