Detective Robert Cimino of the NYPD Financial Crimes Task Force said Wednesday Laurentiu Baies and Marcel Boarau had only been in the U.S. for about a month when they were picked up Tuesday.
Police say the 34-year-old Baies and the 36-year-old Boarau were charged with criminal possession of a skimmer device and other charges. It wasn't clear if they had an attorney.
Police say they placed a card reader on the door outside a Chase Bank in Brooklyn, mounting cameras on the ATM to record pin numbers.
They say the men were arrested at the bank two hours after planting the skimmer.
