The incident, which happened just after 2 p.m. inside Select Sylez on Merrick Boulevard in Laurelton, appears to be the results of a dispute over the sale of a Bluetooth headset.
The victim, identified as Carl Richardson, was stabbed repeatedly in the chest with the scissors and pronounced dead at Franklin General Hospital in Valley Stream.
The 34-year-old co-owner of the store, Cedric Simpson, was taken into custody at the scene. Police say Richardson had sole him the headset and came to the barbershop to collect the agreed-upon $40 payment.
There was some sort of dispute, and a scuffle broke out that was quickly broken up. But then police say Simpson grabbed the scissors and stabbed the Nassau Community College student three times.
Simpson is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
