A Long Island man is under arrest and facing charges after he allegedly beat and robbed a cab driver.

Police say 20-year-old Kyle Johnston refused to pay his fare after a cab ride to his home in Bayville around 7 a.m. Sunday.

When the cabbie approached him, prosecutors say Johnston beat and kicked him before stealing his money.

The 66-year-old taxi driver, who works for Long Beach Taxi Company, transported himself to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Johnston was arrested at his home Sunday afternoon without incident.

He is charged with robbery and theft of services.
