New Jersey forest fire intentionally set, officials say

BEACHWOOD

Two fires happened in the same area last Thursday.

The first fire started around 11:40 a.m. along a roadside in Beachwood and burned 307 acres. Investigators say that blaze was accidental, started by improperly discarded smoking materials.

The other fire broke out five miles away in Berkeley around 5:50 p.m. and burned 220 acres.

Authorities say that fire started on the side of an unimproved road with a flame and a pile of dry leaves and flammable debris.
