New York City mayor orders ACS to hire hundreds of workers

NEW YORK

The mayor vowed to reform ACS after the torture and beating death of 4-year-old Myls Dobson in January.

Since then, two additional children have died despite ACS intervention.

Authorities say 2-year-old Kevasia Edwards was allegedly beaten to death by her mother in Queens, and 4-year-old Juan Sanchez died after eating rat poison in the Bronx.

The mayor is listening to overwhelmed staffers in the Family Services unit, who will have their workload cut in half.

This will also allow their supervisors to focus on fewer groups of workers.
