CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 54-year-old man is dead after being stabbed on a subway platform in Brooklyn.
Police say the incident happened at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The victim suffered a single stab wound to the back.
He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, commuters continue to raise concerns about rider safety on the subway system.
"It's very sad. It's unfortunate, really. This world is getting worse and worse by the day. Really sad (and) praying for the family," a commuter told Eyewitness News.
"We could always use more cops. They're doing their best. I see a lot of cops in the stations but there could always be more."
The suspect was able to flee the scene and has not been caught.
The MTA has suspended N train service between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and 86th Street amid the NYPD's ongoing investigation.
