NEW YORK (WABC) -- Amtrak and NJ Transit rail service has been impacted Wednesday night due to multiple issues, including a "trespasser fatality" in New Jersey.

Amtrak says an unauthorized trespasser came into contact with a commuter train in Elizabeth, resulting in delays to all rail traffic in and out of New York Penn Station.

Amtrak service has since been restored with residual delays.

Meanwhile, NJ Transit reported that Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast line rail service was also suspended in and out of New York Penn Station due to the issue.

Service had also resumed Wednesday night, but separately, NJ Transit reported that rail service in and out of New York Penn Station is subject to up to 60-minute delays due to weather-related power issues in one of Amtrak's Hudson River tunnels.

NJ Transit rail tickets and passes are being cross honored by NJ Transit bus and private carriers and PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken, and New York 33rd St.
