HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police said a 27-year-old motorcyclist died after he hit a minivan on Long Island.

The Suffolk County Police Department said Brett Rainey was riding his 2000 Yamaha northbound on Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station at 5:30 p.m. Friday when he broadsided a minivan.

The 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was being driven by Lucas McAfee, who was southbound on Walt Whitman Road, when he attempted to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot.

Rainey, 27, of Huntington Station, struck the front passenger side of the minivan. He was taken to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said McAfee, 18, of Fort Salonga, and his three passengers were not injured.
