Brian Shlonsky

Previously, Brian was the weekday evening anchor at WAVE News in his hometown of Louisville, KY. Before that, Brian was an anchor and reporter at ABC10 News in San Diego, CA, where he helped develop a breaking news live center.
Brian has also covered news as an anchor, reporter, and storm chaser at KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City, OK, and an anchor and reporter at KKCO 11 News in Grand Junction, CO.
Over his career, Brian has covered a number of major stories, including the UPS Flight 2976 plane crash and protests following the police shooting of Breonna Taylor, and he reported from Mexico during the construction of the southern border wall in California in 2019. He also served as the lead host of historic Kentucky Derby coverage for a number of years. He has reported from dozens of major weather disaster zones, including devastating California wildfires, Oklahoma tornadoes, and Kentucky floods.
Brian's work has been honored with several prestigious television news awards, among them an Edward R. Murrow Award, six Emmy Awards, including for best anchor, best reporter and best live reporter, and two Society of Professional Journalists awards for his reporting on public affairs.
