New Jersey summer camp counselor accused of sexually assaulting children

EDISON (WABC) -- A New Jersey man who worked as a summer camp counselor and a school bus monitor has been charged with sexually assaulting two young boys in separate incidents this year.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan on Tuesday announced the arrest of 25-year-old Alex Farkas, of Woodbridge, on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Farkas was employed as a bus monitor by the Edison Branch of the YMCA and as a camp counselor at the Oakcrest Family Swim Club in Edison.

The charges stem from an investigation that began after one victim told a relative about the alleged assaults.

Prosecutors say one boy was assaulted on the bus and at the camp on numerous occasions between March and September, while the other boy was improperly touched on the bus on various occasions between July and September.
