Woman hit, killed by Amtrak train in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WABC) -- An Amtrak train hit and killed a woman in Connecticut.

Police say the 31-year-old woman attempted to cross the tracks at Fairfield Station on Sunday night. She apparently tried to seek shelter under the platform when the train sideswiped and killed her.

Police say it does not appear to be an attempted suicide, however they are investigating the incident.
