Starving dog tossed in the garbage inside a suitcase in the Bronx

A pit bull was found stuffed in a suitcase and thrown into a dumpster at a Bronx housing development.

MELROSE (WABC) -- A dog was found stuffed inside a suitcase and then tossed into the trash in the Bronx.

Police on patrol at the Melrose Housing Development in the Bronx were alerted by a passerby to a malnourished dog on Thursday around 12:30 p.m.

The officers discovered the 1-year-old brown pit bull in the rear of the building.

It had been stuffed inside a suitcase and thrown into a dumpster.

They immediately took the him to the ASPCA where he is currently receiving veterinary care for malnourishment.
