Woman, son spread anti-bullying message from Flatbush, Brooklyn

FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A former teacher in Flatbush, Brooklyn is trying to help spread an anti-bullying message to neighborhood kids.

Denise Williams-Hunter said she stopped teaching about 20 years ago to take care of her son, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

She said she's always missed teaching and recently found a way to give back.

Now with the help of her son, who she still cares for, the two make positive stickies for kids who pledge against bullying.

The messages encourage kids to "do something nice every day" and remember, "It's alright to be different."

Williams-Hunter reached out to Eyewitness News after witnessing a report about a teen who had died in her neighborhood, saying she wanted to share something positive that was also happening in the neighborhood.
