Man arrested in Greenburgh hit and run

Man found in jogging outfit on side of road
GREENBURGH Authorities say 62-year old John Janusik, of 34 North Perkins Avenue in Elmsford, was the driver of the car.

He claims he didn't know he hit somebody.

Police say the body of 38-year-old Harimder Sing, of Greenburgh, was found on the side of the road Monday. Singh, wearing jogging clothes, was tragically killed on his birthday.

Janusik is charged with leaving the scene of an accident. He was reportedly picked up after he got into a minor fender bender Tuesday with a neighbor, when responding officers noticed the car had front end damage similar to the car wanted in the hit and run.

Sing was found in front of the Cardinal McCloskey group home, at 12:50 p.m. after a motorist called police to report a man lying along the roadside.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road, also known as Route 9A, was closed in both directions from Park Avenue to Whitehouse Road until 6:20 p.m.
