Prices for one-way fares will drop 17 percent.
New York Water Taxi, which runs the ferry, says the price decrease is intended to attract more riders. Last month, just 10 people on average took the 149-seeat ferry from Haverstraw. Then another 44 people boarded in Yonkers, before the run to Lower Manhattan.
The ferry needs 65 to 100 riders daily to be considered a success in its first year.
