Death of 5-time widow's first husband gets new look
CHARLOTTE, N.C. Medina County Sheriff's detective Scott Phillips said Monday
that cold-case investigators are looking at the unsolved murder of
Clarence Malone, who was shot once in the head in 1970.
Malone's marriage to Betty Neumar broke up in the early 1950s.
The 76-year-old Neumar was recently charged in North Carolina with
one count of solicitation of murder in the 1986 shooting death of
her fourth husband, Harold Gentry.
Investigators have urged authorities elsewhere to look into the
deaths of the other four husbands. Police are doing so in Ohio,
Florida and Georgia.
Neumar's attorney didn't immediately return a call Monday
seeking comment.
