Tow truck driver spends hours in ditch

NEW JERSEY Investigators say the driver was travelling southbound on route 17, in New Jersey when he lost control of the truck, ran off the road, slamming into two guardrails.

It then plunged down an embankment, finally stopping in high, thick brush.

Police say he was finally saved when passing motorists spotted the truck and called the crash in, something he was unable to do.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, reportedly had a cell phone but was either unconscious or too out of sorts to use it.

He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
