ELIZABETH, N.J. Elizabeth police spokesman William Reyes says a security camera recorded a woman in a "bushy black wig" removing 3-year-old Jessica Alexandra Alvarez from the toy section of the Unique Thrift Shop in Elizabeth as the girl's mother shopped nearby.

It happened around 11:00 Thursday morning.

Investigators circulated a photo of the suspect. She was later identified as 54-year-old Eyvonne B. Alexander.

After an intense manhunt, police surrounded a minivan at Clothier and Grand Avenue in Rahway shortly after 5:00.

Newscopter 7 was over the scene when police found the little girl in a green minivan outside a Rahway gas station. The child was then placed into an ambulance.

Investigators said she was not injured, but she was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Alexander was arrested by Rahway police. She is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
