President-elect Barack Obama hasn't named a Secretary of State yet and the Obama family hasn't decided which breed of dog will get to romp on the White House lawn. But at the Shifman Mattress Co. in Newark's Ironbound section, there's hope that the new president will follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and choose one of their hand-tufted luxury mattresses to lay his head on.

The President elect may be persuaded to buy a mattress made with tender loving care.

Shifman is no stranger when it comes to making bedding for the white house having provided comfort for President Teddy Roosevelt, The Kennedys and The Clintons. The company has been making mattresses since the late 1800s and the process of hand stitching; using the finest grade wood, pure cotton and craftsmanship has not changed.

The bedding comes with high praise and star appeal.

Besides Presidents, a Shiftman mattress has provided rest for entertainers like Antonio Banderas and Eddie Murphy.

The company has just expanded and is up to the task of making an exquisite quality of bedding for the Obama's.
