Wind closes Pavonia-Newport station

JERSEY CITY Jersey City police asked NJ Transit to stop operating the station just before 9 a.m. this morning when they received reports of windows breaking in surrounding buildings.

Customers were removed from the platforms for their own safety.

Light rail trains are operating through the station without stopping.

As an alternate, commuters who usually take the light rail can use PATH trains to take them to Hoboken.

The station services NJ Transit's Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system.
