Got a gripe? New York City's public advocate wants residents to become part of the solution. Bill de Blasio on Monday launched a Department of Community Organizing.

It will help train residents to organize petition drives, demonstrations and civic actions.

In addition, the department will provide information in multiple languages on how government works and the steps New Yorkers can take to advocate for policy change.

The public advocate serves as a watchdog of City Hall.
