Neighbor defends Toledo McNugget madness

Melodi Dushane is back in court on January 28th, but she's been in the court of public opinion for the last week. Last Friday, the 24-year-old woman was accused of punching a McDonald's worker and smashing a drive-thru window, all because she couldn't get McNuggets at six in the morning.

Type in McNuggets and Toledo in any search engine, and the jokes start rolling in by the hundreds.

Brenda Goucher lives across the street from Dushane. She thought the story was funny at first, but now she thinks some of the attention is overblown. "I heard chicken McNuggets is the new crack, but I think it's beyond funny now," said Brenda. "I think it was New Years Eve. [She] probably had a couple drinks and did something stupid that everyone's done at one point in life or another."

We checked with police about that comment, and they say there are no drunk driving charges pending in the case. Since Dushane was arrested hours after the incident, there is no evidence of intoxication.

Goucher may think Dushane deserves a break, but nevertheless, at the east side McDonald's where the attack occurred, the attack is still the hot topic of conversation. "Who wants McNuggets at six in the morning? She should be in bed sleeping," said customer Scott DePew. That's easy for Scott to say. He came at one o'clock in the afternoon and can get all the McNuggets he wants.
