Deerpark police officer badly beaten

DEERPARK, NY Late Saturday night, 24-year-old Jessie Cramer, a part-time officer with the Deerpark Police Department, checked on what appeared to be a disabled driver along Port Orange Road. Cramer says that's when a man inside the vehicle jumped out and attacked her.

Officer Cramer suffered cuts and bruises and blacked out from the attack. She called for help when she regained consciousness.

Her chief told Eyewitness News that Cramer is recovering and will be fine.

Cramer provided investigators enough information to come up with a composite sketch and a description of the suspect; a 25- to 35-year-old white male, medium build, about 5-foot-8 and weighing 150 to 175 pounds.

However, that rather generic description and Cramer's recent history also have state police investigating the validity of her claim.

Late last year, while off-duty, Cramer was accused of pointing her gun at her boyfriend during a dispute. A grand jury cleared her of any wrongdoing.

And then there's her own profile, posted two years ago on a social networking website. It reads, "What a loser thing to write. I'm 22 and live in Ulster County, NY. I've been a police officer for over a year now and enjoy making lives miserable :)"
