Mother, boyfriend arrested in child's death

BROOKLYN

Authorities responded to a 911 call of an assault on Kingston Avenue just after 10:30 p.m.

EMS responded to the location and transported Aiyden Davis to Interfaith Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Medical Examiner determined that Davis was beaten to death, beaten so badly that his liver was lacerated.

"Kill him? Kill him?," the victim's aunt, Pamela Davis said. "What can a 2-year-old do that bad to kill him, to kill him?"

Police have charged the mother's boyfriend, Reginald Williams, 31, of Brooklyn, with murder.

The mother, Teresa Foster, 27, of Brooklyn, has been charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child

Foster's family says they got an inkling of what was happening Friday night.

They say Theresa was at work and had left Aiyden, for the first time, alone with her boyfriend at their apartment.

"I call a second time," Pamela Davis said. "He said, 'Oh, I just spanked him and made him stand in the corner. He didn't do his ABCs.'"

Neighbors in the building also say they'd heard the toddler being beaten in recent days. Perhaps what's most tragic is that relatives say Aiyden himself tried to alert others about it.

Now, they wish they had done more as the haunting memories remain.

A spokesman for Administration for Children's Services says the agency is investigating.
