Picking out the best winter coat

NEW YORK

This time of year, you must have one but with so many choices, it can be tricky picking the right winter coat, fashionable yet still winter friendly.

Fashion stylist Fred Forcellati says down is one of the hottest trends this season but he says look for ones, that aren't to bulky, and are tapered in all the right spots.

At Annie Sez, popular styles, like this classic tweed with a feminine touch costs less than $170.

So don't be shy, swing by and consider a faux fur, perfect with jeans or an evening dress.

If you tend to lean towards black coats, this is the season to add some color.

Jewel tones like this purple coat is not good news to everyone.

There is absolutely nothing childish about this head turner.

Your eye is immediately drawn to the sweeping black collar.

Another way to keep it neutral is a camel coat, if you want a pop of color, do it with accessories.

Expect to also see a lot of plaid, kind of like wearing your husband's flannel shirt.
