Snow, freezing rain in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY

It was another dig out for New Jersey, but this time residents are kind of crunching their way through the clean up.

Northwest New Jersey got a hearty overnight snowfall followed by a full morning of freezing rain. Public Works spent the night plowing and salting, but a layer of ice coats most cars and some Ringwood side streets.

What's so tricky about the roads, is at first glance you see white and it looks like snow. But it's really slippery ice.

David Schneider spent the morning clearing out his steep driveway and preparing his wife's SUV for the icy roads.

"The ice is the problem. You can't do much on ice. It's all about going slow," he said.

Travelers are facing delays at Newark Liberty International Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration says a traffic management program because of the weather is delaying arrivals at Newark.
