5th annual Keith Dressel Memorial Ride

TOLEDO, Ohio Sara Shaw says, "We work hard and the community loves Keith's family. They love what we do out here and it's for a great cause and supporting the community, so we're all really honored." And just over 4 years later, hundreds still came out to participate in the fifth annual Keith Dressel Memorial Ride.

Detective Dressel was shot and killed by 15-year-old Robert Jobe. The shooting took place when Dressel and another detective broke up a drug deal. Since that day in February 2007, the community has come together.

Larraine Dressel, Keith's mother, says, "It's important to us to have all these people come and support the scholarship and I think it's important that we ride too." That scholarship is the William Miscannon Scholarship Fund in honor of Detective Keith Dressel. Officer Miscannon was killed 30 years prior to Dressel's death.

Shaw says, "We do it in memory of Keith, so we're honoring two great men and it's a really awesome thing."

"It's amazing all the support we receive and the support for the ride for the cause, William Miscannon Scholarship fund. The feeling of all the people coming together it just means so much to us," says Keith's father Michael Dressel.

Not only has the death of Detective Dressel affected his family, but also the family of those who worked with him.

Toledo police officer Mark Nelson says, "You know that's the one nice thing about police work. We're one big family. There's a term called the thin blue line. We all go by that faith, we all together as one. We support each other as much as we can in death or life."

Detective Dressel served with the Toledo Police Department for 14 years.
