Study: Children packing on more pounds than ever

WASHINGTON

Researchers have seen big changes in how much they eat and also where they eat.

The Journal of the American Dietetic Association reports American children are consuming an extra 179 calories a day compared to 1977.

They've also shifted to eating more away from home.

Eating out now accounts for 34 percent of calorie consumption, and most of that comes from fast food.
