Bank robbed in Durham

DURHAM

Investigators said a man held up the bank around 10:30 a.m.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, 6-1 to 6-2, and with a medium build. He was wearing a black fake beard over his face, a white ball cap, a dark hoodie with a red or burgundy emblem on the chest and white coverings over his hands.

Anyone with information is asked to call District 2 Investigations at (919) 560-4582, CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200, the FBI at (919) 233-7701 or (704) 377-9200 or the N.C. Bankers' Association hotline at (800) 209-2293. CrimeStoppers is offering a cash reward and the North Carolina Bankers' Association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The nearby Lakewood Montessori Middle school, which is currently being housed in the Durham Public Schools staff development center, was put on lockdown while police searched for the robber.
