NY Historical Society gets an upgrade

NEW YORK

The society has been transformed by a 70 million dollar, three-year renovation that's just about finished.

Among the improvements is a new children's section with interactive displays and a library.

For the adults, the old, dark lobby is now inviting. It includes a permanent exhibition called New York Rising, which is 42 feet of great treasures telling the story of the city from 1776 to 1804.

Touch screens throughout help you learn more about the art and artifacts.

There's now a gift shop by the 77th Street entrance and a full service restaurant. Cafe Storico features small plate venetian food.
