Now, there's a way to make that happen and it benefits both customer and provider.
Lisa Veyka is bringing an hour of comfort right into Karina Taveras' home.
In fact, Karina summoned Lisa and her massage table for an hour long appointment that she booked only about an hour earlier through Zeel, a new app created by Samer Hamadeh.
"People really want a massage when their back actually hurts and that's usually within a four hour window. The industry isn't really geared toward offering massage right away, you have to book in advance," Hamadeh said.
So Zeel changes the paradigm. Just use your iPhone or go on the web to pick your time.
Choose either a deep tissue or Sweedish massage.
You can select the gender of the therapist and opt for 60 or 90 minutes, and rest assured you're in good hands, so to speak.
"We interview every therapist in person, we check their license with New York State, and we make sure they have at least a million dollars of liability insurance and we have liability insurance on top of that," Hamadeh said.
Prices are comparable to New York City spas and gyms and less expensive than many hotel massages.
If you own your own massage table, the price is even less, and because you enter your credit card information ahead of time there's no exchange of cash.
"Tax, tip, everything is included so when the therapist leaves your card is charged, you get a receipt by email, there's nothing you have to do," Hamadeh said.
There's nothing you have to do except of course to relax.
"It's just great because you're in the comfort of your own home. So you feel very safe, it's very easy," Taveras said.
And therapists can choose how much they want to work.
"That's the thing about on demand you have to be demandable," Veyka said.
If this were a spa, you'd have to get dressed and trudge home, but with Zeel you can continue to relax.
