Surveillance in Upper Manhattan attempted rape

Police in Upper Manhattan are searching for the suspect wanted in a terrifying attempted rape and robbery.

It happened on Monday, March 10th at around 10:30 p.m.

A 31-year-old woman was entering her building, when at the same time, an unknown man followed behind her.

The man lingered in the hallway of the building while the victim checked her mail.

When the she began to walk up to her apartment, the suspect approached her and went through her pockets and took her cellphone.

The victim took the cell phone back and the suspect backed off.

The woman continued up to her apartment, and as she entered her apartment the suspect rushed in from behind her.

The suspect attempted to remove the victim's blouse and pants.

The victim fought back, yelled, and the suspect fled the apartment with the victim's cellphone.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5'07". The suspect was last seen wearing a beige coat with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath.
