Parents welcome new baby born just after midnight in Flushing, Queens

FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- As 2017 arrived, one of the newest New Yorkers was ready to make his entrance as well in Queens.

Baby Nathan Paralta was born at 12:08 New Year's morning at Flushing Hospital.

He weighs in at seven pounds, 11 and a half ounces.

Nathan and his mom Carmen are both doing well.

New York City's public health system welcomed its first baby of 2017 at 12:09 a.m. at NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in the Bronx.

The baby girl, Melanie Londono, weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz.

Melanie was born to mother Zuelen Londono and father Kristian Payares.
