QUEENS VILLAGE (WABC) -- A street corner in Queens will be renamed to honor a fallen member of the NYPD.

Detective Brian Moore was shot as he and his partner sat in an unmarked car on May 2.

The 25-year-old officer was in a coma before dying two days later.

The City Council last week voted to rename the intersection of 22nd Street and 92nd Road in Queens Village "Detective 1st Grade Brian Moore Way."

Demetrius Blackwell has pleaded not guilty in Moore's death.

Prosecutors say Blackwell was outside the NYPD patrol car, pulled out a .38-caliber gun and shot Moore twice.

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito says the city must remain resolute that violence against the NYPD is never acceptable.
