LINDEN (WABC) -- A 7-year-old girl is recovering after she impaled herself on a tree branch while doing back flips on the side of a home in Linden over the weekend.
The incident happened just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a residence on Berlant Avenue.
Authorities say she impaled herself through the abdomen on a branch approximately 8 inches in length.
She was conscious and alert when officers arrived, and she was taken by ambulance to JFK Hospital in Edison for treatment. Paramedics also treated her at the scene.
The child was treated and released from the hospital and is back home in the Bronx. She will be following up with her pediatrician on Tuesday.
She was visiting relatives in Linden.
