NEW YORK (WABC) -- A man from Argentina was arrested for allegedly trying to climb the Brooklyn Bridge Wednesday night.

Jorge Arredondo, 23, was spotted by an officer walking on the cable on the Manhattan side, towards Manhattan, at 8:40 p.m.

He was past the first bridge gate and 15 feet from the second gate when an officer ordered him to come down.

Arredondo was placed under arrest and charged with trespassing and reckless endangerment. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday.

Police said he was staying at a hotel in Manhattan.
