Missing man in Brooklyn threatened to commit suicide by cop

The disappearance of Decatur Gooden is being handled as a missing person by the NYPD.

BROOKLYN, New York (WABC) -- A man reported missing in Brooklyn may have wanted to lure police to shoot him.



The mother of Decatur Gooden, 21, told police that he left their Brooklyn home with a BB gun Friday, stating he planned to commit 'suicide by cop.'



The man has a history of mental illness, but is not currently on any medication.



This is being handled as a missing person by the New York City Police Department.
