Kristin Thorne reports a gruesom discovery in Suffolk County is prompting a push for criminal justice reform.

Despite being shot, police say the victim attempted to step out of the car, stumbled and collapsed.

He was taken to Woodhull Hospital in critical condition.

Officials say the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Residents says this isn't a block that would normally be the scene of a deadly shooting in the middle of the afternoon.

"Here was surprising because I come up and down this block every day," neighbor Brandon Gonzalez said. "I've never seen that happen on this block. Car accidents, ambulances because of the retirement home here, but never like this."

As police look for any suspects or motive, they say they have identified the victim but are still notifying his family.
