Westbury woman returns to find door open, then attacked by burglar

Police are searching for a suspect in a burglary on Long Island

WESTBURY, NEW YORK (WABC) -- Nassau County police are investigating a burglary that occurred on January 29 in Westbury.

According to detectives, a 21-year-old woman went to enter the back door of her apartment aournd 5:30 p.m. when she noticed it was already open.

As she turned to leave, she was grabbed by the suspect, who demanded money.

The suspect attempted to force the victim into the apartment, but she refused and dropped to the ground.

He fled the scene with a pair of watches.

There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as black male in his early 20s, approximately 5-foot-9, with a mustache and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
