HARTFORD (WABC) -- Police in Connecticut are trying to find the thieves who took a bite out of a big burger sign.

No one has been grilled in the case of the missing 6-foot cheeseburger display after someone grabbed it from the front of Big Steve's Grill outside Hartford.

Witnesses reportedly saw a pair of chesseburglars walk off with the sign Sunday night.

Owner Steve Andrikis says the display has become a symbol of the place.

"Little kids take pictures by the cheeseburger," he said. "Just like a little icon."

Andrikis says he won't press charges, they just want the sign back.

"Just returned it in decent shape," he said. "We're not going to press charges. We just want it back, that's all."

The statue has stood in front of the local joint since it opened.

According to the Hartford Courant, the restaurant is offering five cheeseburgers to anyone who can find it.
