YONKERS, N.Y. (WABC) -- The northbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway were shut down after a crash that sent one car into the river.
The crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. Monday in Yonkers.
Video from NewsCopter 7 showed rescue teams in the water looking into the back of the car.
Westchester County police said the driver of the Jeep may have been swerving to avoid hitting a broken-down car, when he went over the guardrail and into the Bronx River. The driver was standing on top of his car when officers arrived at the scene. He did not suffer any serious injuries.
The northbound lanes opened up a little before 9 a.m.
