Small plane makes crash landing on Shelter Island, pilot injured

SHELTER ISLAND, N.Y. (WABC) -- A pilot was seriously hurt after he crash landed his plane in Suffolk County.

The pilot was the only person on board the single engine Cessna when it went down Monday evening on Shelter Island.

Officials say the plane was taking off from the Klenawicus Airfield when it crash landed to the side of the airstrip.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
