He has a rather unique smile, is super-friendly and in need of a new home.

Meet Beau, an eight-year-old poodle mix that has found himself at the Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary in Middletown, NY. Beau's owner had to give him up after moving to a nursing home.

Now the adorable canine is entertaining the staff of the sanctuary. They say his extreme underbite doesn't hamper his appetite or his positive attitude. But they admit he'd be happier in a home, preferably one that does not have other pets or children.

Pets Alive Medical Director Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio says " Mandibular prognathism (severe underbite) might look like it should be a major concern however it is a common finding in a number of breeds. The vast majority of patients show no signs of discomfort or any lifelong concerns. They can have a very healthy and normal life."
