Man charged with driving drunk on Long Island with his two sons in the car

NORTH HILLS (WABC) -- A man was arrested on Long Island early Saturday morning and charged with drunken driving with his two sons in the car.

According to Nassau County detectives, Vincent Gagliardi, 41, of Little Neck was driving above the posted speed limit westbound on the North Service Road of the Long Island Expressway in Roslyn Heights at about 1 a.m.

He was pulled over on the North Service Road at Searingtown Road and it was discovered two of the passengers in the car were his 12 and 5 year old sons.

Police say it was determined Gagliardi was under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest without incident. The children were released from the scene to a family member.

Gagliardi is charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra's Law), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated (BAC + .08), and VTL violations.
